Common questions
- How often should I get my boiler serviced?
- Once a year is the standard recommendation, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty valid. It's worth booking it in for roughly the same time each year, ideally before autumn, so it's ready for winter.
- What does a boiler service actually involve?
- We check the burner and heat exchanger, test the flue for safe operation, check gas pressure and soundness, test the safety controls, check the condensate pipe, and look over the general condition of the boiler. You'll get a written report at the end so you know exactly what was checked.
- How long does a boiler installation take?
- A straightforward like-for-like swap usually takes one day. A combi conversion or a job that involves moving pipework, changing the boiler's location, or upgrading the flue can take one to two days. We'll always give you a realistic timeframe before we start, not an optimistic one.
- How much does a new boiler cost?
- It depends on the boiler itself, the type of installation, and any extra work like combi conversion or pipework changes. We give every customer a clear, upfront quote after seeing the job, no vague ballpark figures and no surprises on the invoice.
- Do you fix dripping taps?
- Yes, that's one of the most common jobs we do. Usually it's a worn washer or cartridge inside the tap. We'll sort it properly so it stops dripping for good, not just a temporary fix.
- My radiator is cold at the top but hot at the bottom, what's wrong?
- That's almost always trapped air, and bleeding it should sort it. If it keeps happening or several radiators are affected, it can point to sludge in the system, which we can deal with properly rather than you fighting it every few weeks.
- I've got water coming through my ceiling, can you come out today?
- If it's an active leak causing damage, yes, get in touch straight away and we'll do everything we can to get to you the same day. That's exactly the sort of job we prioritise.
- How do I know if it's a proper emergency or something that can wait?
- A steady drip under a sink or a slow-draining plughole can usually wait a day or two. A burst pipe, water coming through a ceiling or wall, or a toilet that won't stop flooding needs sorting straight away. If you're not sure, just call us and describe it, we'll tell you honestly whether it's urgent.
